World-famous heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was reportedly involved in a road traffic accident on Monday morning in Makun, Ogun State, sparking widespread concern among fans and sports lovers across the world.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred at about 11:00am along a busy stretch of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, a major highway known for heavy traffic and frequent accidents.

Sources at the scene revealed that the accident involved a two-vehicle convoy, consisting of a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Anthony Joshua was said to be seated at the rear of the Lexus, alongside another passenger, while two other occupants were positioned in the front seats. His security personnel reportedly followed closely in the second vehicle.

An eyewitness who participated in the rescue efforts claimed that the crash was severe, adding that bystanders immediately attempted to assist before officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived.

“We tried to help and stopped other vehicles to assist. Unfortunately, two passengers died instantly at the scene,” the eyewitness disclosed.

Casualties and Emergency Response

Reports indicate that two individuals lost their lives on the spot, while Anthony Joshua and another occupant sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital for medical attention. The exact medical facility where the injured were taken has not been disclosed.

The deceased victims were later conveyed to Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu, according to official sources.
